Jamie Smith on Sequential Art Thursday, September 23, 2010 About the speaker: Jamie Smith, artist and literacy activist, will speak on sequential art and present a slide show, reviewing editorial cartoons, sketches, a mix of old and new work, some of his influences and favorites, and some classic gags. Smith is a well-known local graphic designer and artist who teaches drawing and sequential art at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He curated the show Cartoon North, on Alaska-themed sequential art from pre-purchase days to the present, and organizes regular cartoon jams, 24-hour Comics Days, and participates in various literary events such as Read Comics in Public Day and Guys Read (in the public schools).
