Greta Burkart Greta Burkart is a member of the founding JTEL board elected in 2009. In addition to a PhD in aquatic ecology and a few other degrees she also has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts. She is currently a staff scientist at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. She has over 25 years of experience volunteering for a number of non-profit organizations in the communities she has lived in. Her love of and fascination with books, libraries, and the community of Ester are the reasons she enjoys serving on the JTEL Board. As a board member, she has been intimately involved in the early planning stages of the library, obtaining non-profit status, and fundraising activities. She hopes to continue serving on the board into 2012. Roy Earnest I was born here in Alaska in 1966. My father was a miner and my mother was a writer. My formative years were divided between my father’s mining operation in Wiseman and living in Maine. After prep school in New Hampshire I finished my last two years of high school here at West Valley High School. Undergraduate degrees were in Physiology and Sociology and a Minor in Philosophy. Graduate work was completed in an MS of Business. I finished 7 years with Delta Air Lines as a Supervisor in 2001. I have been a Father ever since. My two sons Aidan (11) and Nolan (8) attend University Park Elementary. My wife Dr. Andrea Earnest is an Associate with Dr. Eric Buetow in North Pole. I love collecting books and have an extensive and eclectic collection of Alaskan books. I have fundraised for the Nordic Ski Club. I was a Planning Commissioner for the Fairbanks North Star Borough and am the Director of all things Land Issues for the Ester Community Association. I bring a real love of this community to the table and a willingness to get the job done. My family comes first but I would like community work to become my second passion. I will serve the John Trigg Ester Library with honor and devotion if given a chance. Melinda Harris Melinda Louise Harris was born Feb 11, 1961 in Inglewood, CA (L.A.
