Matthew Reckard is well known in Ester for his fascination with the origins and history of our town. He has given talks and written articles about the founding of Ester, the discovery of gold on Ester Creek, the origins and history of the Ester Post Office, and mining in the village. This was an updated version of his history of Gold Rush era Ester, with new old photos and updates to the body of knowledge about Ester's founding, Gold Rush days, and later development into the quirky, independent, mining town that could.
